Little Gem Farm is a 2 acre small-scale diversified vegetable, herb, and flower farm on the black dirt in Chester, NY. This is our fourth growing season producing for a farmers market, CSA, and food sovereignty program. We are looking for one part-time seasonal farmer to join us from May - October.

We are located in the fertile black dirt in Chester, NY at the Chester Agriculture Center alongside several other organic vegetable farms.

Job Responsibilities

This farmer will work closely with the farm owner/operator on day-to-day farm operations.

These tasks include:

• Greenhouse Operations
• Transplanting
• Irrigation
• Harvesting
• Wash-pack

Farming or outdoor work experience is preferred, but not required.

Requirements

• Able to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold)
• Able to lift 50 lbs and complete physical work
• Be on foot and perform repetitive tasks
• Attention to detail, flexible, self-starter
• Ability to work independently and in a group
• Valid Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation

Position Details

• 2-4 days/week (Monday and Tuesday required, Thursday or Friday optional)
• Pay: $18/hr, depending on experience
• Early-May - late-October, dates flexible for the right candidate (can start ASAP if preferred!)
• Unlimited free vegetables and flowers
